COVID-19 Pre-Employment & Onboarding Modifications

Within the past few weeks, COVID-19 has turned our personal and professional lives on end. Each day brings a new set of challenges as we learn to navigate this strange new normal. While hiring activity is expected to slow, OMNI remains ready to support our clients with activities related to pre-employment and onboarding.

OMNI partners with SterlingOne to complete background and drug screening assessments for our clients. Given the impact of the pandemic, Sterling has been enacting necessary contingencies for business operations, but remains dedicated to performing the screens companies rely on to ensure a safe work environment.

Sterling’s testing sites include Quest, LabCorp and Concentra. While these labs are not collecting samples or testing for COVID-19, they may experience closure due to reduced staff or lab materials. Combined with stay at home orders and candidate apprehension to visit a medical facility, there may be a need to forgo testing until business returns to normal. OMNI will make every effort to complete a pre-employment screen to 100%, but when it is not possible, we will track those that need to be tested upon return to normal business operations.

Additionally, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security recognizes the challenges presented by COVID-19 and announced on March 20th a temporary modification to the completion of the Form I-9 for new hire employment authorization. Until the national emergency has been lifted, OMNI will verify the identity and employment eligibility of new hire employees virtually. Once normal operations resume, we will work with the employer to obtain physical inspection of the employment eligibility documents.

OMNI remains dedicated to supporting our clients with compliant and safe hiring practices. Our clients are welcome to contact our Client Support Line at 913-341-2119 or [email protected] with questions related to these and other modifications being made in the wake of the global pandemic.

Thank you for your continued trust in OMNI Human Resource Management.
