Emporia, KS (August 16, 2018) – Members of the OMNI Human Resource Management talent acquisition team attended the Kansas Association of Colleges and Employers Summer Drive-In event on Thursday, August 9 at Emporia State University in Emporia, Kansas.
The Kansas Association of Colleges and Employers (KACE) is a nonprofit professional organization which seeks to connect Kansas employers and career services personnel with Kansas higher education institutions, following a high level of professional standards and ethics. This year’s Summer Drive-In agenda was focused on generational differences in the workplace.
Julie Anderson, Talent Acquisition Operations Director at OMNI, has been a Board Member for KACE for the past three years. She currently serves as Employer Advisor.
Brenna Thompson, Recruitment Specialist at OMNI, was invited as a participant for the Panel Discussion portion of the event. Tabatha Tafoya of Flint Hills Community Health Center and Adrienne Burris of Camso Manufacturing USA also participated in the panel.
Ms. Thompson says, “Employers who don’t make a point to connect with local college career services departments are missing out on a valuable opportunity to understand the strengths of the younger generations – Generation X and Millennials.”
She continues, “By developing a relationship with local college career services, employers can learn how to bridge the gap between generations in the workplace. Employers who put their employees in positions that cater to their natural strengths while balancing them with opportunities to learn from other generations can find greater success.”
Additional sessions at the Summer Drive-In event included a keynote presentation on “The Multi-Generational Workforce,” by Leslie Cunningham, SPHR, Director of Human Resources and Safety at TCT.
KACE provides resources for businesses interested in recruiting college talent. The organization hosts two events annually where business professionals and university representatives come together for networking and collaboration on college recruitment best practices.
